What to expect from the examination

Question formats, timing, pass mark, reference materials and arrangements to confirm before the day.

Four choices and one best answer

Red Seal examination questions use four-option multiple choice. They assess recall, application of procedures and problem solving. The number of questions and topic distribution depend on the trade; use its official exam-information page.

Time and results

The published standard examination time is four hours, and the passing mark is 70%. Confirm the arrangements that apply to your sitting, including any approved accommodations. Our practice simulations use the published question count and four-hour limit, but their topic balance and questions are independently developed.

Confirm the practical details

Use the instructions issued for your booking. Before the day, confirm the location, arrival time, identification, permitted items, supplied references, calculator arrangements and any code edition. Do not infer permitted materials from a practice website.

Language and accommodations

Examinations are available in English or French. Confirm your choice and raise accommodation requests with the administering authority well in advance. This website’s current learning materials are in English.

Treat a practice score as feedback

A familiar question bank can make repeated scores improve without proving broader readiness. Review why each option is right or wrong, revisit weak topics and use resources beyond the practice assessment.
